Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) refers the science of human behavior and utilizes the principles of learning to improve socially significant behavior (Cooper, Heron & Heward, 2007). In other words, it is the application of behavioral principles in everyday situations to result in behavior change. Over fifty years of research has demonstrated the effectiveness of using ABA methods in both reducing inappropriate behavior and in increasing appropriate behaviors and teaching new skills.
In an ABA-based program, the intervention is completely individualized based on an individual's specific needs by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. As part of a comprehensive intervention, the following areas are targeted:
